- # Agonist
A ligand that binds to and activates a receptor under the conditions of an assay or biological system.
- # Amino acid
An organic molecule with amino and carboxyl functional groups; amino-acid residues join in a defined order to form peptides.
- # Amino-acid sequence
Also: primary sequence
The ordered list of residues in a peptide, normally written from the amino terminus to the carboxyl terminus.
- # Half-life
The time required for a measured amount or concentration to decrease by half under specified conditions.
- # In vitro
Also: in-vitro
Research performed outside a living organism, such as in a test tube, purified system, or cultured cells.
- # In vivo
Also: in-vivo
Research performed in a living organism, usually an animal model when discussed in preclinical peptide literature.
- # Ligand
A molecule or ion that binds to another molecular structure, often a receptor, enzyme, or protein.
- # Molecular weight

The mass of a molecule, commonly expressed as relative molecular mass or in daltons for peptide work.
